HEROES

Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU) has launched a new internal call under the HEROES4REGIONS – Joint Practice-Oriented Scientific Research Hub initiative. The call offers an opportunity for MENDELU employees to strengthen cooperation with HEROES Alliance partners, develop international research consortia, and prepare European project proposals with MENDELU acting as the project coordinator.

What does the call offer?

Selected project teams can receive financial support of up to CZK 100,000 to cover activities related to building and developing project consortia and strengthening competences in European project preparation.

Supported activities include:

• Travel to HEROES partner institutions to discuss and develop joint project concepts.
• Organisation of pre-proposal consortium meetings at MENDELU.
• Participation in training sessions and workshops focused on preparing European project proposals.

Please note that the financial support is provided retrospectively. The costs must initially be covered from other available sources. Reimbursement is provided only after the project proposal has been submitted to the relevant European funding call, and the required supporting documentation has been provided.

Who can apply?

The call is open to MENDELU employees preparing a project proposal for a relevant European funding programme, such as Horizon Europe, COST Actions, Erasmus+ KA2 or MSCA.

Applicants must meet the following key conditions:

• MENDELU must act as the main applicant or project coordinator.
• The consortium must include at least two additional partner institutions from the HEROES Alliance.
• The project proposal must be thematically linked to one of the relevant HEROES thematic areas (Points of Development – PODs): Agriculture & Food, Regional Development, Care & Wellbeing, Circular Economy, or Digital Transformation.
• The deadline for submitting the project proposal to the relevant European funding programme must fall in 2027.

Important dates

• Application deadline: 27 November 2026, 12:00 CET
• Evaluation and selection: December 2026
• Announcement of results: January 2027
